§ 7.08.020. Hazardous materials routing.
Unless there is no practicable alternative, a motor vehicle which contains hazardous materials or hazardous wastes, which is required to be placarded by the rules and regulations of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, must be operated over routes which do not go through or near populated areas, places where crowds are assembled, tunnels, narrow streets or alleys. Operating convenience is not a basis for determining whether it is practicable to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with this Section.
(1)
No vehicles used for the transportation of hazardous materials or hazardous wastes which are required to be placarded by the rules and regulations of the Colorado Public Utilities shall be moved or operated on any street or highway within the Town other than on State Highway 83.
(2)
The provisions of Paragraph (1) above shall not be construed to prohibit the drivers of any excluded vehicles from traveling on such restricted or prohibited streets for the purpose of delivering or picking up materials or merchandise, provided that such excluded vehicles enter such streets at the intersection nearest the destination of the vehicle and proceed thereon no farther than the nearest intersection thereafter.
